Frequently asked questions
Will changing jobs reset my PSLF count?
Qualifying payments already made generally stay on record, but months at a non-qualifying employer don't add to the count. Certifying employment before you leave helps keep records complete.
When do income changes affect my payment?
Income-driven payments are usually recalculated at recertification. When income drops you can often recertify early.
Does this recommend what to do?
No. It lists areas worth reviewing so your conversation with an advisor starts in the right place.
Do private loans change with income?
Private loan payments are set by the lender's terms and don't adjust to income; hardship options vary by lender.
